The highly anticipated bout between Caden Vale and a visiting scholar descended into a marathon of courtesy. For forty-five minutes, the spectators witnessed nothing but a series of increasingly deep and complex formal salutations, with neither party attempting a single offensive or even moderately aggressive magical gesture.

It seems both combatants were so preoccupied with the precise angle of their capes and the depth of their bows that magic was entirely forgotten. The referee eventually declared a draw, citing exhaustion from pure, unadulterated politeness and the sheer weight of the etiquette.
