The gallery opening faced minor delays when several appetizers were mistaken for subject matter by the hyper-realistic canvas.

The exhibition at the West Gallery was meant to celebrate Seraphine Clove’s mastery of light and texture. However, guests noted that the depiction of a summer orchard appeared suspiciously hungry. By the second hour, three lemon tarts had vanished into the depths of a very convincing painted basket.

Clove remains undeterred by the criticism, insisting that such vitality is the hallmark of true talent. The Academy’s Art Committee is currently discussing whether to provide the portrait with its own small plate of crackers, or perhaps a much larger, more durable tray of snacks.
